Recreational & Tumbling Classes

Recreational Classes

(Offered Monday, Wednesday & Saturday)

Our recreational gymnastics program is designed to maximize fun while learning. We encourage all students to reach their full potential at their own pace. Classes focus on developing strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence while learning new and exciting skills in their chosen discipline. In this class, the student focuses on the fundamentals of gymnastics. Students are developing a solid understanding of skills and learning basic movements. Skills to be developed in this include cartwheels and handstands on the floor, pullovers, and casts on bars, squat-ons and proper springboard entry on vault, and beginning beam skills involving balance and movement. As Gymnasts progress they will continue to develop their gymnastics, learning skills such as a kick-over and round-offs on the floor, back hip circles and glide swings on bars, handstand flatbacks and dive rolls on vault, and beam skills such as jumps, spotted handstands, and dismounts.

Tumbling Classes

(Offered ONLY on Wednesdays)

Tumbling — also known as floor gymnastics — is a form of gymnastics performed without any specialized equipment. Stunts like backflips, handsprings, somersaults, and tucks are shown on the floor using tumbling mats for added cushion. Tumbling is seen in gymnastics, in elements such as the floor routines in the Olympics, but tumbling does not feature the same dancing elements like in floor routines. Cheerleading is a sport that requires experience in tumbling, as many of the routines involve backflips and other floor tricks.
